Setting the Standard

Organized around the commitment to quality design and sustainability, SCI's architecture and planning specialists bring forth the required vision, technical knowledge and team communication to each project.

SCI works closely with each client and surrounding stakeholders to achieve consensus on design excellence - which translates into sustainability, functionality and beauty. Projects range from residential apartments and townhomes, hotels, and mixed-use commercial developments. As a vertically-integrated company, SCI has a principle goal of reliable site selection and acquisition, market analysis, project coordination, on-site supervision, along with locating capital and arranging financing.

SCI has extensive experience working with community groups, local governments and building departments to exceed customer expectations and compliment the local community.

Building Green

Integration of environmental sustainability into each development project is a constant design principle and concern for SCI's architecture and planning team. Today, many energy-efficient features can be added at little-or-no additional net cost during development and construction. Building Green is just one of SCI's commitments to the local community. Two of SCI's most recent projects have implemented the standards of Minnesota Green Communities:

What is Minnesota Green Communities?

Minnesota Green Communities is an initiative designed to foster the creation of affordable, healthier, and more energy-efficient housing throughout the state of Minnesota. Key principles detail the intended methods to satisfy criteria, release and certification.

Demonstration areas include:

  • Integrated design process
  • Location and neighborhood fabric
  • Site improvements
  • Water conservation
  • Energy efficiency
  • Materials beneficial to the environment
  • Healthy living environment
  • Operations and maintenance

Historical Preservation

Recognizing the importance of preserving the United States building heritage and the need to encourage the rehabilitation of deteriorated properties, Congress created in the 1976 federal tax incentives to promote historic preservation and community revitalization. Historic tax credits have successfully spurred the rehabilitation of historic structures of every period, size, style and type.

Historic tax credits are a great equity tool for owners who have historic buildings they want to rehabilitate and preserve. The process can be daunting and complicated, but SCI and its Associates have significant experience to leader the process from the Part 1 Application to the final Part 2 Application. Our most recent successful projects include:
