Leo M. Sand - Chairman


As the Chairman and Founder of Sand Companies, Inc., Leo M. Sand has been responsible for a multitude of areas during this endeavor. Today Leo's focus and involvement is to provide leadership and oversight of the entire company. He is a Shareholder and member of the Board of Directors.


Sand Companies, Inc. was established in 1991 by Leo M. Sand, along with an experienced team of innovators. In July of 1997, Leo became the sole owner of Sand Companies, Inc. and grew SCI into a top general contracting, property management and real estate development company. Today, Sand Companies, Inc. continues to be led by Leo along a new management team and eight additional shareholders.

He began his career in 1978 with SMS Construction before becoming the CEO and Owner of Sand Companies, Inc. in 1991. He is the CEO and sole owner of Sand Lodging, Inc. and Sand Properties, Inc. Leo has more than 30 years of construction, property management and real estate development experience.

Actively involved in community and civic services, Leo is the current president of the Albany Area Industries, Inc., a non-profit company that promotes and attracts business and industry to the Albany area. He is also the past president of and member of the Albany Jaycees, past president of the Lake Wobegon Trails, a member of the Catholic Aid Association, Minnesota Multi-Housing Association, Carlson Companies Franchise Advisory Committee and Stearns County Pheasants Forever.

Leo has been recognized for his leadership and vast experience. He received the 1996 Innkeeper of the Year Award from Minnesota Innkeepers Association and the 2005 President's Award from Carlson Companies.
